Knockendarroch Hotel Overview
Location: Pitlochry, Scotland
Built in 1880 and once one of Pitlochry’s finest private houses, Knockendarroch became the grand headquarters of the renowned Pitlochry Theatre Company in middle part of the 20th century. Then in the 1980’s, the theatre company moved across the River Tummel and the mansion house became the award-winning Knockendarroch Hotel. The hotel retains a close connection with the Theatre Company and offers guests pre-theatre dining.
Knockendarroch is a charming, comfortable hotel in an elevated position within large private landscaped private grounds near the heart of the popular town of Pitlochry. There’s a choice of individually designed guest rooms and suites all blending traditional features and styling with contemporary touches and conveniences.
The hotel lounge is the perfect place to relax before dinner with its welcoming and cosy log fires. Guests can enjoy drinks or a light menu in the lounge and the Knockedarroch offers guests dinner in their AA recognised restaurant, which offers a modern Scottish menu focusing on locally sourced produce.
Located just off the A9, Pitlochry offers visitors a wealth of things to see and do including great local shopping, pubs and restaurants. There are outstanding local walks by the River Tummel down to the dam which has a salmon ladder and observation window. The House of Bruar is a short distance north and Pitlochry is close to Queen’s View, Blair Castle and Faskally Woods. Pitlochry is the perfect place to stay before heading north into the Cairngorms and the eastern Highlands.
