Christmas Markets

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year and with Osprey Holidays you can make sure you enjoy a trip to one of the many European Markets with all the festive trimmings!

We can offer flight or Eurostar packages to many of the most popular Christmas Market destinations in Europe. Some of our favourites include: Vienna, Budapest, Prague, Tallinn, Bruges, Brussels, Barcelona, Lille, Berlin, Munich, Stockholm and Copenhagen.

Germany

Germany is regarded by many as being the home of Christmas Markets, and you are certainly spoiled for choice.

We offer packages to many German cities which host markets, where you’ll be able to soak up the atmosphere and experience the lights, smells and sounds of Christmas. Two of our most popular destinations are Berlin and Munich.

  • Berlin has over 80 Christmas Markets located around the city with the main festivities being held at Potsdamer Platz, with a magnificent Christmas tree, many stalls decorated with fairy lights and ice rink to complete the magic. From late November until late December.
  • The market in Munich dates back to the 14th century and offers traditional Bavarian gifts and food. Held at Marienplatz (St Mary’s Square), a huge Christmas tree covered in lights towers over the stalls. Advent music is performed from the balcony of the Town Hall between Sunday and Thursday at 5.30pm. From the end of November until Christmas Eve.

Scandinavia

Leading up to Christmas an abundance of Christmas markets will spring up in every town and city across Scandinavia. The air fills with scents of mulled wine and saffron buns, and stalls sell traditional handicrafts and local delicacies. We offer packages to Copenhagen and Stockholm.

  • The Tivoli amusement park in Copenhagen first opened its doors in 1843, but it wasn’t until 1994 that the park hosted its first Christmas market. The great downtown location turned out to be a success as the market attracts some one million visitors. Admire the grand Christmas tree, decorated with miles of fairy lights at the centre of this magical venue. From late November until end of December.
  • The oldest and most famous Christmas Market in Stockholm is located in the heart of the Old Town (Gamla Stan) at Stortorget Square, close to the Royal Palace. It has a special, cheery, festive atmosphere with an array of stalls selling everything from local handicraft goods to mulled wine and traditional Swedish Christmas smörgåsbord. From late November until late December.
