Our Favourite Christmas Markets
We are getting into the true festive spirit here at Osprey Holidays as we feel the colder weather and dark nights drawing in. So it’s time to get snug, enjoy the magic and visit a Christmas Market!
The team have chosen their favourite ones to visit this year and here’s why.
Prague, Czech Republic
Kimberly, Short Break Specialist: “Prague at Christmas is a magical experience. The gingerbread style buildings that surround the markets truly make you believe that you are in a winter wonderland! You can wander for hours among the decorated trees and sparkling lights, sipping at delicious mulled wines and meads, or enjoying freshly baked delicacies such as Trdelník.”
Brussels, Belgium
Helen, Product & Short Break Specialist: “Brussels’ ‘Winter Wonders’ extends over 1.5 miles, creating a more relaxed experience. Don’t miss the fabulous sound and light show in the stunning Grand-Place!”
Copenhagen, Denmark
Diane, Short Break Specialist: “It is impossible not to get into the Christmas spirit in Copenhagen. From the traditional Danish yuletide food and mulled wine served around Nyhavn harbour to the festive, brightly lit Tivoli Gardens with a fabulous market and the aroma of pine, cloves and spice all around, it is truly magical.”
Vienna, Austria
Irene, Short Break Specialist: “A trip to Vienna for the Christmas Markets would be the perfect run up to Christmas, the festive streets all lit up are so romantic and with the stalls all set up in front of City Hall it’s the perfect backdrop.”
Edinburgh, Scotland
Stephanie, Short Break Specialist: “For Christmas Markets I think it’s hard to beat us here in Edinburgh (this is where our head office is based). The hustle and bustle of all the stalls in Princess street gardens really gets you in the spirit, the hot mulled wine also helps!”
Bruges, Belgium
Lawrence, Reservations Manager: “Bruges is a magical place at Christmas time, this medieval small city is the perfect get away for a festive short break. The main market square is buzzing with stalls selling all sorts of gifts. I highly recommend the ice rink with in the square to take in the view of all the beautiful lit up buildings and the huge decorated tree. Try the ‘potato special’ and a mulled wine to keep warm.”
