5 Must See Cities for 2016
As we have over 60 destinations to choose from it can sometimes be a little difficult to pick out exactly which city to go for, so we have come up with the top recommended must-do cities for 2016! From bucket list thrills to sell out comedy festivals here’s our final must see cities for 2016.
VERONA, ITALY as picked by Nathalie
The romantic city of Verona is one of our firm top picks for 2016, due to its world famous Summer Opera Festival – it really is music to our ears! It starts in June right through to the end of August every year with a choice of different performances, all of which are located in the beautiful open-air arena – but be quick as the tickets do often sell out especially during peak times (P.S. we can book these for you). Our top must see apart from the Opera when visiting Verona is the famous Shakespeare Rome & Juliet Balcony (‘Juliet’s House’). Legend also has it, that if a couple leave a written love message here Juliet will bless them with eternal love!
Must stay at the 5-star Due Torri Baglioni one of our top Osprey Select Hotels.
BARCELONA, SPAIN as picked by Julie
This thriving city is a trendy Mediterranean hub busting full of style and energy. This is by far a must visit during spring 2016, with both the city and the beach to explore you’ll have a great mix of things to see and do. A Barcelona must-do is a visit to one of the small boutique like looking cafes for breakfast or brunch. Try the urban yet homely looking, Brunch & Cake which serves the most delicious Eggs Benedict on Waffles (oh yes!), Black Brioche with Smoked Salmon and good quality coffee to start the day – you won’t be disappointed.
Must stay at the 4-star Grupotel Gran Via 678 with its perfect central location.
REYKJAVIK, ICELAND as picked by Lawrence
A rising star for 2015, this incredible rugged city took this year by storm with a record number of bookings. With fantastically unusual attractions Reykjavik really is a city like no other. Our must-do when in this city is a visit to experience the spectacular Northern Lights during the winter months (one for the bucket list), you can choose from a group tour or our personal favourite – a snow mobile or army truck trip to conquer the rocky snow land while seeing the fascinating lights at the same time! Recommended trips through Mountaineers of Iceland.
Must stay at the 5-star Hotel Borg with its unusual Art-Deco styling.
BUDAPEST, HUNGRY as picked by Sarah
With warm thermal springs bubbling up from the ground, Budapest is known as one of the best spa cities to enjoy these historic Roman baths. This relaxing activity should be firmly on your list when visiting this city. Our recommendation would be a visit one of the best – so try the top photographed historic bath, Gellert, with its beautiful Art Nouveau features – from decorative mosaics to ornate stain glass windows this traditional bath will be sure to be a relaxing memorial experience. They also have a fantastic list of luxury spa treatments to choose from, so go on pamper yourself!
Must stay at the 4-star Hotel K&K Opera, one of our favourite top booked hotel brands.
EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND as picked by us all!
This is where we are based and what can we say – we love it! August is the best time to visit, as the city of Edinburgh comes alive with the arrival of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Packed full of comedy shows, pop up venues, outdoor bars, street performers and not the mention the famous Military Tattoo held in the stunning Castle. Each year it gets bigger and better so get involved in the Scottish Capital at its most exciting time of year!
Must stay at the 5-star Balmoral Hotel – the views of Princes Street and the Edinburgh Castle are unmatched!
