Reykjavik and The Northern Lights

The City of Reykjavik

Reykjavik is a unique city break destination. As you fly in over the low, barren coastline you would be forgiven for wondering what on earth you had let yourself in for! But don't worry, the warmth of the Icelandic people, the vibrancy of the city and the diversity of the surrounding landscape will ensure your hearty approval.

The museums in town document Icelandic art, history and culture but it is really only by taking a trip out to the dramatic landscape of volcanoes, fjords, meadows and ice fields that you truly begin to appreciate all that this part of the world has to offer. We can pre-book tours before you go to ensure you make the most of your stay in Iceland.

Round off the day with an evening excursion to the unique wonder of the Blue Lagoon and bathe in the middle of a bizarre lava field!

The Northern Lights

The Northern Lights tour in Iceland takes you to see a spectacular natural phenomenon which happens during the winter months. The Northern Lights, also known as Aurora Borealis, are caused by the interaction of particles from the sun with the upper atmosphere near the North Pole. Northern Lights in Iceland are visible during the winter months, from September to April. The locations visited during the Northern Lights tour vary from day to day depending on weather conditions.

Osprey Holidays can arrange flights from many UK airports to Iceland, and we have carefully sourced our hotels and excursions, to ensure you have the most amazing time.

We Suggest

Why not stay at the highly recommended 4-star Hotel Holt, one of our smaller properties oozing charm and character.  It houses Iceland’s largest privately owned art collection.

If you’re looking for a good value hotel, we suggest a 3-star Hotel Klettur. The hotel is situated in a central, yet quiet location and has a modern feel throughout.

A 4-star Fosshotel Reykjavik, Iceland’s largest hotel, situated a short stroll from the Laugavegur is another one of our favourites. In the evening take some time out to relax in the hotels indoor Beer Garden with some delicious complimentary popcorn!
